Reyne's Cloud of Roleplay: An Alliance of Supposed Conviencence. [Tag Reyne]

literarycloudofreyne:

The problem with living in big cities was the fact that every building and street had been built on the human values. Human ideas, by human people, based on human names and histories, and blah blah blah, Max had already heard all of this before. Seriously if they were going to hold meetings like this then the ones running it and spewing out their speeches needed new material. Green eyes rolled with annoyance and Max pulled at the coat along his arms and body that covered up the blood red vest he wore, with the black button up beneath and the little silver tie tucked under the crimson material, he quickly questioned himself as to why he had bothered to dress up tonight. Probably to impress someone, he noted to himself, but even then, there was no one to really impress.

Just a bunch of freaks like him with a prejudice towards humans that made him sick and a paranoia that grated his nerves, his almond-shaped eyes were slightly shielded by the ends of his jet black hair. When he blinked, the emerald color from before changed to blue, and then again to silver, glancing into the reflective surface of a counter near him he noted how the color set off his outfit and left it at that.

Apparently the old city of New York was becoming over-run by humans who were once again wary of those who were different and wanted to take action against the ones who abused their powers. Max could understand. When a vampire broke into a blood bank, or when a kitsune set a whole store on fire for being pissed, people wanted fair punishment and a way to make the madness stop.

Really, he thought, everyone had just brought this on themselves. The humans were gathering forces  but what was worse was that they were getting people of the ‘supernatural’ genre to join them as well because as far as Max would tell, everyone was tired with everyone’s bull shit. Shaking his head, he turned and walked through the crowds, smiling here and there, he nodded as people eyed him and the Warlock just shrugged his brows when one Vampire had the audacity to sneer at him. Bunch of over grown meat-

Turning he spotted a woman by herself. One he had seen before, raising his brows, he moved towards the pixie and grinned.

“Briar,” He sang out, the chains on his hips jingled with every step and his black boots clicked against the floor. “Fancy seeing you here. I’ll go ahead and extend my invitation to have you as my partner. Deal?”

Looking up as chaos rippled through, he sighed, “Son of a bitch, really guys,” He spoke over the sound of fists hitting flesh and so many creatures screaming. Ridiculous.

That screech had been torture to her ears. Cringing, she slid her palms up and over her wounded ears just to glare at what had to be a banshee, screaming and yelling about how things would go her way. Dropping her limbs, the blonde huffed and shook back her soft curls with indignation. When a certain troll tried to raise his fist towards the woman again, her big brown eyes widened with anger and he swiftly scurried away from the werewolf. Rolling her shoulders, she looked around the crowd, somewhere between annoyance and curiosity. Already she could feel the cut at the corner of her lip closing up.

Whatever was going on, the people who came from fairy-tales and people’s worst nightmares would have to actually band together at some point and overcome this mess. Not much could really be said or done without a full out war, which was inevitable. Clarity just wondered if they would be able to get over their general differences and actually fight back against those who wished to oppress them again. At the same time, she also wondered if maybe a war could be avoided if everyone agreed to behave.

Of course, the only way for that to happen would be to kill every creature who refused to act as if they had some sense and then every species would be nearly extinct. It wasn’t fair to try and damn a whole type of people just because a few here and there acted out and terrorized the city. Clarity knew that sometimes, extreme measures had to be taken but in this case it just seemed like another shot at attempting genocide so that the humans wouldn’t feel so threatened.

Sighing, she turned from her spot on the floor and nearly jumped when she collided with a vampire-no wait, a vordulak. Offering a tight smile of apology and avoided the hit of their shoulders, she moved around and sighed as she followed her nose. Walking through the sea of people while others either left all together or murmured to themselves, she stopped in front of a dark haired man and a woman she had never met before.

“Max,” She stated and arched a brow when the Warlock looked over, as if surprised that the friend he had come here with had found him. “Stop trying to ditch me, jesus, I almost had to kill a few people when looking for you.” Glancing down to the other woman, she smiled politely, before glaring back up at Max.

“Sorry Clare,” He sighed and shrugged, “I just got caught up, and then everyone started moving around…oh! Briar! Meet Clare, Clare, meet Briar. I met Briar once in the park, she had been singing a lovely song and I had been tripping on a spell gone wrong. Sounds like a love story waiting to happen, huh? Oh and Briar, I met Clare-well, Clarity, when we were small. So, yay, introductions are done and I have invited Briar into our cause.”

“What cause?”

“You know, the one where we stick together to avoid attacks from humans and disgruntled monsters and sirens, and all the things.”

Despite things having come quite a long way in the past years, especially where the humans were concerned, it amazed Briar that her own kind could still barely tolerate each other, let alone be in the same room for a great length of time… as tonight’s events demonstrated wonderfully. So much pushing and shoving, punching, kicking, furniture throwing. The bill was going to be huge and likely come out of everyone within the supernatural community’s paycheck, regardless of whether they participated here today or not.

The fae attempted to retreat from the thickest of the commotion, pushing and shoving past the numerous jostling forms as she made for the door, only to have a hunk of wavy hair yanked, pulling her forcibly back into the fray. While mischievous by nature and generally benign, pixies were capable of being terribly, terribly nasty little creatures. A defensive hiss was brought forth from the young woman as she bared rows of pointed teeth and lashed out, using her long nails to scratch her would-be attacker’s face. But before anything more could be done, everything was stopped by a terrible screech that hurt her ears and rattled her bones.

”Titania’s tits.” Briar groaned, massaging at her ears to try and stop the ringing. At first she didn’t pay much mind to her name being called, merely passing it off as her imagination along with the infernal ringing within her ears. It was only when she lifted her gaze to survey the room and she spotted a familiar face that she realized it hadn’t been her imagination. ”Max? You look…” The pixie trailed off as she eyed her companion up and down ”Rather overdressed. Dapper, but rather overdressed.” His next words brought no comfort to her, instead causing her stomach to do uneasy flips. While she felt she already knew what it was he was getting at, she couldn’t help but ask. ”Partner? For what?”

Briar’s gaze wandered towards someone she didn’t recognize, yet seemed to be coming over towards Max and herself. A pretty blond werewolf, by the looks of things and a tall one, although where Briar was concerned that wasn’t exactly hard. The werewolf politely acknowledged the pixie before scolding the warlock for ditching her, it seemed the two knew each other. ”A pleasure, Clarity.” Briar said with a incline of her head as the two were introduced. As Max recalled the story to Clarity of how they met an impish smile graced her features. ”Mm, love story indeed. It was a rather amusing sight actually.”

Ilija was about to make his way for the exit when he felt someone or something thump against him. Frowning faintly he spared a glance toward the culprit, hoping that it wasn’t someone looking to start something again. To his surprise, and admittedly relief, it was just an accident. As was polite the vordulak inclined his head to the young woman and gave her a courteous smile.

Grey eyes followed after the woman for a moment or two before peeling away from her to focus on something else as Ilija brushed himself off and smoothed down his wrinkled cardigan. The young man released an annoyed sigh as he fingered at a newly made hole upon his cardigan. ”That’s what I get for wearing a new cardigan to something like this.” Liking his lips Ilija soon found himself searching out the blond woman, for one reason or another unbeknownst to himself. Soon he found her, talking with two other people, one of which he happened to recognized.

Rubbing his hands together he then set off towards the group, long legs taking him across the room in next to no time. ”Briar.” He came to a stop between the werewolf and the pixie, smiling charmingly down at the group. The pixie’s inky gaze was raised to the tall man and a friendly smile registered upon her lips once she realized who it was.

”Ilija. I was wondering whether you had come. Oh, yes. Where are my manners? Ilija this is Max and Clarity. Max and Clarity, this is Ilija. He and I work together.” Quietly Ilija took the two in before extending a hand towards them both and bowing his head in greeting.

”Lovely to be of your acquaintance. However, sorry to be meeting you in circumstances such as these. But what are you going to do?”

Upon the mention of a cause, Ilija’s interest was piqued further, head cocking to the side as the one known as Max spoke of it. Briar’s reaction to the warlocks words was to clamp her hand down upon his mouth and gently shake his head. ”Perhaps here is not the best place to discuss such things, no? I’m sure there is somewhere else we can go?” After that she released him, not before patting him upon the cheek and flashing an impish smile.

”Oh indeed. I hope you don’t mind my joining in? After all, when you’ve got a ‘cause’ such as yours, why not have all the help you can get?” Broad shoulders along with dark brows lifted in a shrug as long arms came to cross loosely against his chest, Ilija then adding. ”Y’know, considering.”

An Alliance of Supposed Conviencence. [Tag Reyne]

The world in which Briar lived wasn’t perfect, it had it’s problems. It really had its problems, but it worked in its own way. For years now the uncanny folk such as herself and the mundanes— or rather humans, had lived side by side and coexisted in relative harmony. They certainly had their differences way back when, but things were more or less alright now. You could even say that things were better than alright, that things were good. So no the humans weren’t the problem, the problem were the supernaturals.

Old grievances and feuds from years past were being dredged up once more for all the world to witness. Like an old cut you were too impatient to let fully heal, instead choosing to continually pick at the scab. It didn’t matter if you had nothing to do with said feuds and grievances, you somehow ended up tangled up in it anyway. And so in an attempt to nip a potential disastrous situation in the bud, a meeting was to be held.

As cliché as it was, you really could cut the tension with a knife. The air was thick with it. As if one wrong move, one ill placed joke was all that was needed to send everything into utter chaos. Briar enjoyed a bit of chaos as much as the next pixie, but that level of chaos she wasn’t in the mood for. Her feelings on the matter were made known with a disdainful sniff, the pixie receiving a few glaring glances by her fellow fae.

While the room they had commandeered for the meeting was huge, it still managed to be jam packed with the representing groups of every supernatural and other such magical beings you could think of, or at least those that resided here in this lovely city. Vampires, werewolves, fae, lesser known beings… the list went on. Naturally Briar stood amongst her own, silently taking in all that was going on around her with inky black eyes. A soft, tired sigh escaped her lips as she listened to the proceedings, long -almost unnaturally so- fingers tapping an impatient beat upon her arms.

She wasn’t listening entirely, only catching bits and pieces. Something about ‘Keeping the peace’ and ‘refraining from violence.’ and then something else, but she didn’t hear it. Nor did she need to, for the rooms reaction was enough to tell her that what was said was not something they wanted to hear.

Utter chaos soon followed.

—————————————————————————————————-

It was almost funny how quickly things got out of hand. Voices rose, tempers flared, punches were thrown and soon terrified squeals filled Ilija’s ears. All of this fueled by a few ill chosen words, well, mostly. None of this was what he wanted, although he couldn’t say that he didn’t expect it. Pack a bunch of wasps in a tight space and shake them about, your sure to piss them off. And that is exactly what happened.

”Hey vordulak.” The word was said with such venom that it was practically dripping with it. A grimace graced the young man’s pale features as he turned upon the heels of his feet to face whoever was addressing him; a vampire. Of course. While a vordulak was essentially a species of vampire, the two never really ever saw eye to eye. Primarily due to the vordulak’s main diet; vampires.

Liking his lips habitually Ilija eyed the vampire stood before him. He was a rather squat and rather angry man with arms as thick as logs. ”Can I help you?” Ilija inquired with the smallest hints of sarcasm in his voice, brows furrowing. His question was swiftly answered with the baring of sharp fangs and the swinging of a fist. A fight then.

Skinny as he was, he was fast and more than capable of looking after himself. Tall form side stepping the vampire’s punch, Ilija then swerved round to slap the man across the back of the head, sending him stumbling. For a while it went on like this, Ilija batting the vampire away only for him to come right back at him again and again. Eventually, however, everything was brought to a complete standstill. A very loud, near ear splitting screeching sound stopping everyone in their tracks.

”Enough! My words are final!” And that was the end of it, much to the aggravation of many. The whole point of this meeting was to sort things, yet they had gotten nowhere and nothing had been accomplish, except that maybe this meeting had only succeeded in making things worse, much worse. If the grumbling, the glares and the whispers where anything to go by.

One thing was for certain though, alliances were going to be made… if they hadn’t been so already. If things were going to escalate and only get worse, then you might as well have strong allies, no?
